Biography

Michael J. Walsh is currently a design strategist for Mindstate Lab in New York City and runs his own design, communications and strategy business. Walsh is the founding Creative Director of DEAR DAVE. An online and print magazine that won the 2018 Lucie Award for Best Photography Magazine and is a 2019 Webby Honoree award winner.
He is an instructor in the Graphic Design/Interactive Design BFA program at the School of Visual Arts, NYC, where he was also the Director of Design & Digital Media for the College. He has also worked at: NYCEDC; Abrams Publishing; Walt Disney Company; Time Inc; TBS Productions and The Washington Post Sunday Magazine. He has developed brand identity systems and brand content development for several institutions and startup organizations in the education, sports marketing, photography, fine art, technology, life sciences, architecture, and industrial design industries.
Walsh has won design/art direction awards, from: American Institute of Graphic Arts; American Association of Museums; Art Directors Club; Society of Publication Designers; Print; Communication Arts; Creativity; Graphis; Art Direction; British Art Direction and Design Annual; Creative Review UK; I.D.
