Biography
Juan Javier is the Executive Creative Director for DAVID Miami. He was part of the team that started the DAVID office in Buenos Aires, and later moved to the States to help build DAVID Miami.
In 2016, he earned the nickname Number Juan, after being named the #1 Copywriter in the World according to the Cannes Lions Global Creativity Report. This year him and his partner Ricardo became the first Ecuadorian team ever to win a Grand Prix at Cannes, and at the Clios, and the first D&AD Impact White Pencil for Latin America. With ideas like Manboobs4boobs they helped DAVID Buenos Aires become the #5 best agency in the world.
In 2017, they were named Creatives of the Year by Ad Age in the A-List & Creativity Awards and we were also featured in ADWEEK's CREATIVE 100 as 2 of the“Creative Directors Who Are Completely Reimagining What’s Possible in Advertising”. They also broke a couple of records this year: becoming the first creative team in the history of Cannes Lions to win back to back Grand Prix for different clients. And they managed to do the same at the Clio Awards. They also appeared for a second year in a row in the Cannes Lions Global Creativity report as the #2 Copywriter and the #2 Art Director in the world. With acclaimed campaigns like “Google Home of the Whoppper” and “Pass the Heinz” they ended up making DAVID Miami the #4 best agency in the world and #2 in the US.
In the past three years alone Juan Javier has won 57 lions and over 150 international creative awards, including Grand Prix in almost all of them. As well as having not one but two USATODAY AdMeter Top 3 Super Bowl spots for Heinz and Budweiser. His work has made it to the permanent collection of the MoMA and has been used as an example in the United States Senate. In 2018 he was featured in the 35 under 35 Business Insider List of “Rising Stars of Madison Avenue who are revolutionizing advertising”.
But beyond all the awards and recognitions, Juan Javier is just an ad nerd who loves advertising and creating work that ultimately becomes a part of Pop culture.
