Biography

Bella Hurrell, deputy editor, BBC visual and data journalism team



Bella works creatively and collaboratively with designers, coders and journalists to produce compelling visual stories and digital content for BBC News.



Through the use of graphics, data visualisations and interactivity her team help explain the biggest news stories to millions of readers every day on mobile, web and app.



She has worked on many award winning projects over the years, and is proud to have been part of teams that have collected Baftas, Webbys, Lovies and numerous data journalism awards.



An a IADAS member since 2017, she has also been a judge for Africa and Middle East digital journalism awards.



Bella has presented on digital journalism techniques in Europe and India and has also co-written chapters in several books on data journalism.
